Archbishop William Lori's 50th Anniversary Mass Homily
Message From Our Pastor
Since arriving here at Resurrection in January of 2011 I have been blessed to be counted as a member of this extrordinary parish family. Since I was very young, I always wanted to be priest and the greatest joy has been the ability through God's grace to realize that dream. After serving for a year and a half as administrator here, Archbishop Lori gave me the greatest gift of appointing me as pastor on July 1, 2012! During my time here I have seen a community that has put their faith into action and are faithfully following in the footsteps of the savior. Here we find a "microcosom" of the Catholic Church and a community that has accepted the invitation from Pope Francis to proclaim the gospel with joy!
Our parishioners are diverse in background, culture and language as is the surrounding Laurel and Maryland City area. Many parishioners hold government jobs, serve at Fort Meade as military personal or contractors, and some are local day laborers. We celebarte our diversity while at the same time recognize that we are all united together as one family, "one faith, one Lord, one baptism, one God and Father of us all." Our diversity is a gift and a blessing. Counted among our family are members originally from eastern Europe, the Philippines, Africa, India, China, Japan, Mexico, Central and South America; 1st generation immigrants to 3rd and 4th generation family members born in the United States. We stand together as Catholics who believe that what unites us together is stronger than any country of origin, background we grew up with or language we speek...we are united together in Jesus Christ!
Whether you are new to our area, just visiting for a period of time or looking to become a member of a parish family, please know that you are welcome here at Resurrection. We are a growing family with new visitors and registering parishioners each week. As we grow, it is an exciting time as we expand ministries, offer more faith formation opprotunites for the young and the young at heart, continue to renovate our parish buildings for future needs, continue to be a presence of charity and care to our surrounding community and follow the gospel of Christ with love and devotion.
May God bless and keep you always,
Fr. Mark S. Bialek
Pastor
